The Organisation:
Addison Precision Ltd is one of the best subcontract machining companies in Lancashire (the North-West). Their machining capabilities and systems allow them to support some of the major primes in the aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors. They operate from a very modern facility with a highly skilled workforce and a strong customer-focus.
The Challenge:
The current MD, Mark Verdon, recognised the opportunities and need for change within the business. He was able to engage the business in the SC21 Competitiveness and Growth programme as he saw it gave them a highly structured methodology for improving performance. Mark called on the services of The Excellence Partnership Ltd due to our wide range of skills and ability to support the operation with the breadth of expertise needed.
The Approach:
Mark defined his vision for how he wanted to develop the business, and at the outset, we helped him deploy the C&G framework and identify the key focus areas that would allow the business to meet its objectives. This involved working across all areas of the business, engaging people, developing skills, and implementing improvements. The specific areas covered were;
- Supply chain management,
- Improving quality,
- Operational improvements including SMED, 5S, DSUMs, and multi-manning,
- Production planning and developing an S&OP process,
- Developing leadership skills,
- Creating an overall business plan.
The Outcome:
Mark is very grateful for the support he received through the delivery of the improvement work, which has enabled him to manage his business through very turbulent times, engage his workforce and improve performance. Mark said “It’s been really good working with The Excellence Partnership. They have such a broad range of skills which has helped us, and they're not afraid to challenge the way we work, which I've found very useful. From the work they carried out, we’ve made some significant improvements which has given us a very strong foundation to take the business forward”
